Event Report

The San Jose Ride and Drive event was held at beautiful Cunningham Lake Park.
The event was organized by Clean Cities and Breathe California.
Our Silicon Valley EAA chapter was invited to be a sponsor and provide 2 EVs for display.
We had a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E and 2021 Polestar 2 flanked by our EAA Feather Flags.
Our EAA group also had at least a dozen other EVs in the visitor parking lot.

A few local car dealers provided the actual EVs for the Ride and Drive.
Toyota and Hyundai had Fuel cell cars available for test drives along with a Hyundai Kona EV.
I test drove the Kona and it had a lot of getup and go.  I temporarily removed my mask for the photo.
One dealer also had a Jaguar iPace on display however they were not offering test drives.

Breathe California arranged for a food truck and I had some excellent Tacos for lunch.
They also gave out some raffle prizes and hired a DJ who used solar power to provide the music.
We handed out a lot of goodies sent by NDEW at our EAA booth.
The goodies included T-shirts, Nissan water bottles, face masks, hand sanitizer, bamboo tableware, and backpack style goodie bags.
We also had some great conversations with visitors who stopped by our booth and answered their questions.

Breathe California Environmental Director Sandra Philpott produced the event.
Breathe California CEO Margo Sidener introduced the guest speaker: Cindy Chavez - Santa Clara County Supervisor
Here is a link to a 10 minute YouTube video of that speech:

Event Description

Electric Auto Association is pleased to partner with Silicon Valley Clean Cities Coalition for its Third Annual EV Ride and Drive Event, along with Breathe California, the City of San Jose, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, Jaguar, and DGDG.Com *.

This event will take place from 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, September 25, 2021.

The public is welcome to attend this ride and drive event located within beautiful Lake Cunningham Park.

The park is located next to, but completely separate from the Raging Waters amusement park.

The event will take place in parking lot D, however, visitors must park in lots C or E.  There is a $6 per vehicle parking fee.

The park address is: 2305 South White Road, San Jose, CA 95148

Several car dealers will have new EVs that guests can sign up to test drive. The test drive will be within the park and speed limits are in force. This is a great opportunity to get behind the wheel of a few of the latest EV models and experience them for yourself.

The Electric Auto Association (EAA) Silicon Valley Chapter will have 2 EVs on formal display (Polestar 2 & Mustang Mach e).

There will also be several EVs in the parking lot with their owner volunteers from EAA on hand to share their personal experience of EV ownership and answer any questions that you may have.

All attendees and volunteers are required to wear face masks whenever they are within six feet of another person at all National Drive Electric Week 2021 events.

Please see this information about how to improve how your mask protects you
