Event Report

County of Ventura, EV Advocates of Ventura County, Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance (VCREA), and Electric Drive 805 hosted daily virtual Ventura Drive Electric Week 2020 events throughout the week of September 28th, including:

  • Monday 9/28Evie McWheelie Project Launch - Participants had one week to send in photos of themselves with Evie McWheelie alongside an EV and/or charging station that they encounter as they travel around town. 
  • Wednesday 9/30EV Driver and Dealership Meet and Greet – Staff and volunteers from EV Advocates of Ventura County, County of Ventura, Paradise Chevrolet, Silver Star Auto, and Clean Vehicle Rebate Project hosted a Zoom webinar to provide community members with the opportunity to engage with local EV owners and dealership staff and ask about available EVs, chargers, driving experiences, etc. The event included a virtual test drive of a new Chevrolet Bolt.
  • Thursday 10/1: EV-related Incentives and Funding Lunch and Learn - Staff and volunteers Ventura County Air Pollution Control District, VCREA, EV Advocates of Ventura County, Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, and Ocean View School District hosted a Zoom webinar providing an overview of available incentives and funding for new and used EVs and charging stations.
  • Friday 10/2: EV 101 Lunch and Learn – Electric Drive 805 hosted an EV 101 Lunch and Learn to provide an overview of which 100+ mpge electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid are available and information on current incentives, charging, range, and pairing solar with EVs. There was also be a question and answers session with EV drivers. 
  • Ventura Drive Electric Week 2020 participants could also sign up for a free EV starter kit that contained EV related informational brochures and goodies from EV Match, EVgo, Electric Drive 805, Plug-in America, SCE, Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, VCREA, EV Advocates of Ventura County, and Nissian. 
  • Ventura Drive Electric Week 2020 website included a resource page for EV related information Electric Drive 805, Plug-in America, SCE, Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, Sierra Club, and Electric Auto Association.

Ventura County 2020 Virtual National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) Events

County of Ventura, EV Advocates of Ventura County, Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance (VCREA), and Electric Drive 805 are collaborating to provide daily virtual NDEW events throughout the week of September 28thFor more details, please see below or visit Ventura Drive Electric Week 2020 event page to sign-up.

  • Monday 9/28: Evie McWheelie Project Launch - Participants will have one week to post photos to VCREA’s Facebook page of themselves with Evie McWheelie alongside an EV and/or charging station that they encounter as they travel around town. Participants will be entered into a giveaway, with winners chosen on Monday, Oct 5th
  • Wednesday 9/30: EV Driver and Dealership Meet and Greet – EV Advocates of Ventura County and County of Ventura will host a Zoom webinar to provide community members with the opportunity to engage with local EV owners and dealership staff and ask about available EVs, chargers, driving experiences, etc. This event will include a virtual test drive and vehicle tour(s) in a new or used plug-in EV.

San Diego Virtual EV Webinar/Meeting - Join us at noon on Wednesday, September 30th to learn about all of the benefits of driving electric. We will have a panel of EV owners to answer all of your questions. Our panelists have driven all different types of EVs - Nissan LEAF, Chevy Bolt, Volt, Hyundai Kona, Chevy Spark, Fiat 500e, Jag I-Pace, Audi e-Tron, Mitsubishi Outlander Plug in Hybrid, Hyundai Ioniq, Tesla Model S, 3, X, Y and more. This will be an interactive session, so bring any and all questions.

EV Battery Recycling/Reuse - Join us to learn how EV batteries are recycled and reused at the end of their life. We'll be joined by lithium-ion battery recycling company American Manganese Inc. and ReCell Center, a national collaboration of industry, academia and national laboratories working together to advance recycling technologies. Please RSVP to attend and we'll provide more information about how to view the live event.
