Event Report

There were a number of people who showed up because they had heard about the event through social media / newspaper / online, and many of the local Farmer's Market Patrons stopped in as well. I talked to many retired older people who were there for the Market, but very interested. There were also a lot of families with young children stopping by.
Some local politicians / community volunteers stopped in. I remember Dorothy Rasmussen was there from the town council, and a local township administrator. Farmer's Market Volunteers were very helpful.
I contacted all local dealerships including 4 separate Nissan Dealerships and only 1 brought a car for test drives - which left after a single test drive. The dealerships were generally poor at returning calls/emails, and waited weeks before I could even get them to say no. The BMW dealers (I contacted Open Road and Springfield), Nissan dealers, and GM were out of stock. The Farmer's Market organizer only allowed 2 cars inside the market.

Event Description

Are you considering going electric? Come talk to owners who have successfully made the switch, maybe take a test drive, and leave with some fresh locally grown produce!

This year Metuchen is celebrating the 5 new level 2 car chargers in the Pearl Street parking garage, a block from the train station.  Help us celebrate by bringing your plug-in vehicle and showing attendees that they are fun to drive, are less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles, are better for the environment, promote local jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.  If you haven't made the switch, come and talk to owners who have. 

National Drive Electric Week, September 10-18, 2016, is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars.
