Event Report

The 2016 Juneau Alaska NDEW Event was an awesome success with over 40 EV's to include Teslas, Leafs, Fords, modified and Alaska's First Electric Bus were present for the event. Total mileage of participating vehicles was over 500,000 EV miles which is incredible since Juneau only had 7 EV's three years ago. Now Juneau is over 80 electric vehicles and is one of the fastest EV growing communities with one of the highest per capita EV communities in the US. The event attracted dozens of individuals and families interested in purchasing an EV and a large number of test rides and and drives were provided to the interested public.

Hot dogs, chips and refreshments provided by Juneau Hydropower. Literature on EV's provided by Plug in America along with detailed maps showing where Juneau's public charging stations are located were a big hit with the public.

The event was sponsored by the Juneau Chapter of Electric Vehicle Association which had aerial drone EV on site for pictures.

Event Description

Driving the Rain! Juneau's Annual EV Event! In Juneau, we drive the rain since our electricity is made virtually from hydropower.
Come share some fun with Juneau's growing Electric Vehicle owners and learn about Electric Vehicles first hand.
Hot dogs, refreshments and EV information will be available for this fun family event.
We will be parking EV's in front of the Sandy Beach Picnic Shelter #1  Saturday September 10th at 12-4 PM located at Sandy Beach/Savikko Park. There will be demonstration rides available for folks interested in how an electric vehicle works and how driving electric helps your family and your community.

Please come to learn and share about driving electric vehicles in Juneau.  Juneau now hosts over 70 EVs with Nissan Leafs, Ford EV's, Chevy Volts and Juneau now has 2 Teslas! Alaska's first electric bus from Gastineau Guiding will also be at the event! This is a great event for EV owners to share experience with other drivers and prospective EV owners, and for members of the public to learn more about the benefits of driving electric in Juneau.

Help select where Juneau's new charging stations should go and help predict when Juneau will have 500 Electric Vehicles.

The event is also an opportunity to join and meet other members of the growing Juneau Chapter of the Electric Auto Association.

Juneau is a community participant in the National Drive Electric Week (now Juneau's 3rd Annual Event) with local events taking place all Across America from September 10 through September 18th. Come show your support for Juneau's growing adoption for  electric vehicle transportation.
