Event Report

We had a great turn out for the Worcester NDEW event with over 150 people turning out and over 60 ride & drives. Keynote remarks were given by: Judith Judson - Commissioner of the DOER, Coleen Gardner -Director of Partnerships at National Grid, Prof. John Orr - Director of Sustainability at WPI, and Joe Bush - Executive Director of the Worcester CleanTech Incubator. On top of many vehicles brought by attendees, Bikes and Life brought electric bicycles, and local BMW, Nissan and Kia dealerships brought BMW i3, X5 and xDrive40e, i8, Nissan LEAF, KIA Soul EV, Chevrolet Volt and Cadillac ELR. Say Cheese kept our appetites satisfied with delicious eats. With beautiful sunshine galore we were also graced with WPI’s rare EV1, an electric motorcycle, and an electric Chevy s10 pickup! Each year the Worcester NDEW Ride & Drive keeps getting better and is supported by a vibrant community of engaged citizens.

In recognition of this year's National Drive Electric Week, the Institute for Energy and Sustainability will be holding an Electric Vehicle event on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Come hear about how driving electric is more fun, convenient, and less expensive than driving a traditional gasoline car. Admission is free and all members of the family are welcome!

About National Drive Electric Week

National Drive Electric Week is "a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more." With many independent events taking place in over 100 cities nationwide, NDEW has a guiding mission of driving mass adoption of electric vehicles. Plug In America, the Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association are sponsoring this initiative at the national level, and Nissan has most recently offered its support to local Nissan dealerships who participate in these events.
