Event Report

The event was held at a venue at the center of the metro Atlanta population in Alpharetta GA at Avalon, a master planned city center community. Six sponsors supported the event including one Public Utility, three EV charging companies (one with Solar), two Auto OEMs (Nissan and BMW) and the local EV Club. The venue provided space for exhibitor tents with tables. There were 33 EVs from private owners and 5 from OEMs and 1 from the City of Atlanta Corrections Department (the PoLEAF) and a VIA powered pick up truck from GA Power. We organized the EVs by region of origin (NA, EU, Asia) and had a Tesla owners group in front of the Tesla store. We distributed EV Fact Sheets and interacted with dozens of event goers. We had two Mayors (David Belle Isle, Alpharetta GA and Ted Terry, Clarkston GA), one Public Utility as presenting sponsor and the City of Atlanta Director of Sustainability to speak to kick off the event. Literature was provided at each of the Sponsor tables/tents

Event Description

2016 marks the 6th Annual National Drive Electric Week event in metro Atlanta.  This year, the event has a new venue: the incomparable Avalon in Alpharetta, Old Milton exit 10 off the Georgia 400.  Avalon represents a new 'city center' community which offers a diverse range of retail and dining for residents and visitors along with metro Atlanta's newest Tesla store and 10 level 2 electric vehicle charging stations installed throughout the venue.

The Drive Electric Week-Alpharetta event will offer spaces for 48 electric vehicles in the high traffic main thoroughfare, along with event sponsor exhibits occupying the unique 'green space' lined by restaurants, cinema and Avalon's Welcome Center.

We have an incredible line up of sponsors this year including:

Presenting Sponsor:      Georgia Power
Major Sponsors:            Hannah Solar and United BMW Roswell
Supporting Sponsors:    EV Club of the South, ChargePoint and Metro Plug-In
National Sponsors:        Nissan North America, CleanCities-Georgia and Sierra Club [Georgia Chapter]

Mark your calendars for Saturday September 10th 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM to meet many of metro Atlanta's electric vehicle owners and learn their secret to enjoying virtually fossil-fuel free driving!
