Event Report
Lengthy discussion about film (Revenge of the Electric Car) and about plug-ins: Prius, Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf and Tesla. Ride and drives in Tesla. Talk of future events.
Event Description
PVEAA will present a screening of the 2011 award-winning film by Chris Paine, REVENGE OF THE ELECTRIC CAR, followed by a discussion about the Tesla Roadster, Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt, which are featured in the film. The Tesla Model S P85D recently broke the Consumer Reports 100 point rating system, earning a score of 103. Consumer Reports named it the “best overall vehicle to buy” for the second year. Tesla has built a powerful brand, demonstrated the importance of fast charging for which it has built the necessary infrastructure, and treats its customers well.
REVENGE OF THE ELECTRIC CAR tells the dramatic story of individuals whose vision and determination helped to lay the groundwork for the availability of EVs today and reveals the challenges that were faced in order to bring them to market. After the film, owners of various EVs will be on hand to share their experiences and answer questions about driving electric. The event is part of the fifth annual National Drive Electric Week (9/12-20/15). It is one of more than 190 across the country where electric vehicle owners and their neighbors will hold electric car parades, “tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, recognition of leaders promoting EVs, launches of new public EV charging stations and other public events in order to highlight the fun, clean-air benefits, safety and economy of driving electric.
