Event Report
Our event was a caravan drive from the City of Calimesa up highway 39 to the City of Big Bear Lake. A few weeks before our planned event, a brush fire broke out on the mountain. We waited to see if we needed to change plans. The days prior to the event there was an online notice that tourists are welcomed and needed in the resort town. So we decided to go ahead with the plans. We didn't have much interest on the NDEW page, but when we've had events in the past, people just show up at the starting point.On the day of the event we had one person show up who wasn't a part of the organizing team. We went and had a fun picnic at the destination. However, during the day the fire shifted closer to Big Bear Lake. It got very smoky. The fire department closed the highway going up the mountain, but we all made it down safely. Unfortunately we don't have any pictures.
Event Description
Caravan - according to Merriam- Webster: a group of vehicles traveling together (as in a file). Join the Inland Empire Electric Vehicle Association for an EV caravan from the flatland to Big Bear Lake. We will have a picnic and talk with interested people at our destination location about the benefits of driving electric. This is also a celebration of the installation of DCFC at Big Bear.

the World Scenic Byway, turn right onto Big Bear Blvd,
destination will be on the left.
