Event Report

This was a first-ever ride and drive in Rifle, and was more successful than we expected. People started showing up 10 minutes before the event start time and we had a steady stream for two hours. We could have offered more test drives if the dealers had brought more cars.

Aron Diaz <CQ>, a Trustee for the Town of Silt, attended and took a test drive in a Ford Fusion. Also attending were members of the Vernal, Utah, Chamber of Commerce, who were visiting Rifle on a bus tour, and students in the Colorado Mountain College sustainability degree program.

The Rifle Branch Library was a partner in planning the event. A library staffer hosted a table to show people how to access free library resources, such as Consumer Reports and automotive magazines, to research an EV purchase.

By the end of the event, the dealer sales reps were asking if we could host another ride and drive event in nearby Glenwood Springs.

Event Description

Please join us for Rifle's first-ever EV Ride & Drive. Come check out the newest plug-in electric car models and take one for a test drive.

Mountain Chevrolet will show two Chevy Volts, and Glenwood Springs Ford will show the Ford C-Max Energi, with knowledgeable sales staff offering test drives.

Learn about the financial and environmental benefits of electric vehicles, along with the incredible state and federal tax credits that are making 2015 and 2016 particularly good years to invest in a new EV.

We'll have cars on display and informed people ready to answer your questions, and it's happening just one block east of the Rifle Farmer's Market.

The Rifle EV Ride and Drive event is hosted by Garfield Clean Energy, the City of Rifle, Garfield County Environmental Health, the Rifle Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Rifle Branch Library. Sponsors are Mountain Chevrolet and Glenwood Springs Ford.
