Event Report

Event opened with a presentation in the Community room of the Hastings Public Library.  The speaker, Paul Pancella, of the Kalamazoo Electric Vehicle Association, talked about the differences between EVs and standard internal combustion cars due to the drive technology.  He emphasized how those differences (and similarities) would affect the drivers of EVs.  The presentation took about 45 minutes, and was followed by a lively Q & A session, indicating that the audience was pretty interested in the topics.

After this, the audience retired to the parking lot to look over several EVs and discuss real-world experiences with the drivers of those vehicles.  The local electric utility, Consumers Energy, had a tent and table on the parking lot containing info especially on incentive programs for charging EVs at home.

Event Description

This event is part of Tech Week 2023, put on by the Barry County (Michigan) Chamber of Commerce, as well as NDEW.
An expert from the Kalamazoo Electric Vehicle Association will begin the evening with a presentation on modern EV technology, in the Community Room of the library.  This will be followed by a small EV show out on the parking lot.  The presentation will focus on how today's EVs work, and how that impacts drivers.  Informal discussion will continue with current owners and their vehicles on the parking lot just outside.  A representative of Consumers Energy will also be at the show to answer questions about charging at home and other EV related issues.  All of this is free and open to the public.
