Event Report
The NDEW at Chatham was originally scheduled for September 23rd 2023. Unfortunately, the event was rescheduled due to the rain. The new date was October 14th, which turned out to be rainy as well. We still carried on as the rain was not too strong in the morning. The EV show organized by NJEVA was part of Sustainability Fair organized primarily by Chatham Environmental Commission, which in turn was addition to weekly Farmers Market. There was a band performing life music, which helped to bring some people (with umbrellas). The rain was the reason for a poor foot traffic. Despite of that, we had a decent 14 EVs, including 7 dealer vehicles. The dealers brought Polestar 2, Tesla Model X and Model 3 (Tesla Springfield), Volkswagen ID.4, Volvo XC40 Recharge and Volvo XC90 PHEV (Smythe Volvo). The tent with NDEW information was joined by Melissa McCutcheon from Avenues in Motion, a Micromobility Non-profit.
However, the top of the show was Rutgers Solar Racer, solar powered racing vehicle.

Event Description
The Sustainability Fair features an EV Expo with New Jersey EVA and local dealers showing new EV models. Local EV owners are welcome to participate in National Drive Electric Week by bringing their own Plug-in vehicles to the event and share their experience driving electric with non-EV guests. PLEASE NOTE - CARS WILL BE PARKED, NO TEST-DRIVING.
You are encouraged to stay with your vehicle, talk to visitors and share:
- your experience driving electric,
- how you decided to get one,
- where you bought it,
- any road trip experiences and
- fun stories.
The Farmers Market will be at the same site with fresh farm produce, flowers, and musical entertainment. The town's annual Sustainability Fair will host 20+ exhibitors and local organizations. Come and find out about landscaping with native plants, composting, recycling, shop for upcycled goods, refillable housewares, household solar and other decarbonizing and electrification ideas for home and garden.
The event will also feature food trucks, giveaways and indoor bathrooms.
