Electrify Your Life: At Home and On the Road Expo & EV Showcase

This two-part event started in the SLO County Library Community Room where participants heard about the many ways to electrify their lives at home.

Speakers at the Expo included:

• Andy Pease, City Councilmember and Green Building consultant, describing the City's activities in promoting building electrification and what they are doing to "lead by example"

• Alexa Colon, Sustainability Partnerships Lead for Electriq Power and the PoweredUp SLO program, presented their program that offers residents of SLO county access to solar power and storage systems at zero-up front costs.

• Gray Gautereaux of 3C-REN, presented a primer on the how-to's of home electrification and an overview of the financial incentives and technical assistance available.

Exhibitors (Harvest Thermal, Central Coast Community Energy, 3C-REN, Resilient SLO, City of SLO, Citizens’ Climate Lobby, and PoweredUp SLO) offered valuable information and answered questions about electrification technologies, financial incentives, and how to become involved in advancing climate action in the community.

Refreshments and snacks were provided on reusable plates by Tableware Share.

Attendees were then invited to visit the EV Showcase in Farmers’ Market as the second part of the event. EV owners displayed their cars and answered questions about their driving electric experience. Booths set up by SLO Climate Coalition, SLO County APCD, Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition, and Central Coast Community Energy provided information on EVs and incentive programs for not only their purchase, but also the installation of charging infrastructure.

Event Description

Electrify Your Life Expo & EV Showcase

This two-part event will start in the SLO Library Conference Room located at 995 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, where participants will hear about the many ways to Electrify Your Life: At Home and On the Road. You will not only learn how to get started on the path to an electric lifestyle and the resources available to help you, but you will also be able to talk to those who have made the switch. A variety of vendors and organizations will be represented, offering valuable information about the financial incentives and technical assistance available for home electrification. The second half of the event will be outside in the Farmers' Market, where EV owners will showcase their cars, answer questions and discuss the many advantages of a fully electric lifestyle.

The Expo will be co-hosted by the SLO chapter of Citizens Climate Education and the SLO Climate Coalition. Lead organizer for the EV Showcase is the SLO County APCD office with support from the Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition and SLO Climate Coalition.
