Event Report

Over 100 electric vehicle drivers, supporters, and intrigued local residents attended the Livingston County Electric Car Show on Saturday, October 1st, as part of the 12th annual National Drive Electric Week.

12 Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles were on display at the event, including the new and highly anticipated Ford F-150 Lightning pick-up truck and the BMW i3REx. Owners chatted with visitors, and many visitors accepted the offers for ride and drives in the different EVs.

As a special surprise, one EV owner not only displayed his car and offered ride and drives, but brought with him a portable solar panel. The panel powered a cooler (no ice needed!), perfect for camping or tailgating, and a sink. If this wasn’t enough, he used the panel to power an oven to cook and share yummy warm cinnamon pears. Needless to say, he was very popular with everyone.

The Mount Morris Library provided environmental activities for all ages, including rock painting, storytelling and more. Additionally, the Climate Solutions Accelerator was on site to provide information on New York State initiatives and incentives, regional climate action strategies, plans, and information on local opportunities to get involved in the climate movement.

As one visitor wrote after the event, “I attended today's event in Mt.Morris. I just wanted to let you know me and my son thoroughly enjoyed getting to talk to all the EV owners from all different
backgrounds. Events like this go along way in advancing the ever changing technology. Thanks for the effort in planning of it.”

Many thanks to the Town of Mount Morris for hosting this event again this year. Special thanks to Shawn Grasby, Code Enforcement Officer and Mayor Joel Mike, for their support and help in making this event possible.

Event Description

National Drive Electric Week rolls into in Mount Morris on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 10am - 2pm with a special ride and drive event. Over a dozens electric vehicle drivers are expected to gather in the municipal parking lot at Main Street and O’Connell Avenue.

You'll have the chance to check out the various cars, talk to actual owners, not dealers, about their experiences, what they like or don't like, and may have an opportunity to take some out for a test drive. They're not only fun to drive, but also a benefit to the environment. Mount Morris now has charging stations on both ends of the village, that are free for the public to use. One is in the municipal lot where the show will be held, so you'll have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about them.

The event will also include activities for people of all ages (including kids!), prize drawings and giveaways. There will be representatives from various organizations as well, including the Climate Solutions Accelerator, Citizen's Climate Lobby, and Friends of the Genesee Valley Greenway.
