Time: | 7:00 - 9:00 pm EDT |
Location: | Somerset Cty Emergency Services Training Academy 402 Roycefield Rd Hillsborough, NJ 08844 |
Event Report
The event started by Mike Hornsby's presentation to the First Responders from Somerset County. Mike is EV owner & advocate and Fire Fighter from Princeton Junction. There were 63 registrations for the training. After the indoor presentation, First Responders went outside to check out 14 different EVs including Ford F150 Lightning, courtesy of Haldeman Ford dealership, which was the top of the show. Several attendees test drove the pickup truck. We would also like to thank our partners:
Leanne McGowan, RideWise
Derek Reedman, Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy
Susie Dudek, Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy
Based on the short survey we have fielded, this audience feels to be much more educated about EV safety as it relates to their job, they rated Mike very highly and they would strongly recommend the training to their colleagues. Interestingly, they acknowledge learning more about EVs in general and most importantly, they are more likely to buy an EV.
Areas of improvement are insufficient lighting - of course, this was our first outdoor show at night. The indoor area was not large enough to accommodate all vehicles.

Event Description
This EVent is targeted for first responders within Somerset County. However, the invitation list already contains out of county personnel.
The presentation will be given by Mike Hornsby, Firefighter from Princeton Junction and a member of NJEVA. After that, first responders will inspect our vehicles to identify high voltage cut-off and some other safety features. This will be our opportunity to talk about benefits of driving electric and how safe they actually are. If you know more technical details regarding your vehicle, please state so at the registration. You will be given priority if we get overbooked. By registering, you consent that you will be doing just that. You may not be able to attend the presentation room as space will be limited.
We are working on having light refreshments available for you!
This event is co-sponsored by RideWise and hosted by Somerset Cty Chief's Association.
