Event Report

Drive Electric NWA in Rogers, Arkansas brought at least 500 people out to see electric cars and e-bikes up close, and learn about the amazing oomph electricity is giving to transportation in Northwest Arkansas.

Sparked by the interest of Northwest Arkansas' three electric companies (SWEPCO, Ozarks Electric and Carroll Electric) in educating the public about the transition that's occurring in driving, the Northwest Arkansas Council worked with the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission to create a partnership that involved 16 sponsors.

The sponsors included the three electric companies and the Northwest Arkansas Council as well as Canoo, Lewis Automotive Group, Nunnally Chevrolet, Francis Energy, the Arkansas Automobile Dealers Association,  Flux Car Charing, Arkansas Clean Cities Coalition, Evolve Auto, Moosejaw and People for Bikes.

While the Canoo electric vehicles that are to be manufactured in Northwest Arkansas and at a large plant in eastern Oklahoma drew tons of attention from curious visitors, there was high interest at Drive Electric NWA in the Ford F-150 Lightning brought by Lewis that's sure to be a long-term hit in Arkansas.  An e-bike giveaway, organized by Moosejaw, received hundreds of entries.

The Tesla Owners Club of Arkansas was critical to the event's overall success. Their members brought Teslas, of course, but also a Rivian, a Volvo, Kia and Chevy Bolt. They gave rides to dozens of people who wanted to experience the cars.

The event attracted more than 500 people who got an opportunity to ride in electric cars and learn about the technology.

Event Description
