Event Report

You can view this presentation at: https://youtu.be/ugnML_B1TS4 Speaker Sean Farrar, Port Angeles community member, recently completed a short-range electric vehicle (EV) road trip from Detroit, MI to Port Angeles, WA in a 2018 BMW i3. Learn how he planned his route and what his EV road trip experience was like. He discussed his experience owning an electric vehicle, including how he decided to make the purchase. Speaker Bio: Currently, Sean is a helicopter mechanic and crew chief with the U.S. Coast Guard and an avid car enthusiast. Sean grew up in suburban New England playing with lawn and garden tractors and helping his father run an auto repair shop from an early age. Sean attended a STEAM-focused high school where his love for all things mechanical was solidified. Sean joined the Coast Guard in 2003, maintaining and operating small boats on the weekends as a Machinery Technician while working full time at a New Holland Agricultural dealership. He was the lead road service technician and one of two CDL drivers delivering new machines, and recovering broken machines for service. Having held a class “A” CDL for over 20 years and completing three cross country moves for the CG, he has driven many miles in a variety of vehicles. In his free time, Sean enjoys back-country camping and taking yet more cross-country trips in his 1999 Jeep Wrangler. Always looking for the next new and exciting technology in the mechanical world, Sean found an EV to be the best choice to replace his Smart car when the time came. He came to learn that the high efficiency and lower cost of maintenance was just the beginning of the benefits of switching to an EV as a primary vehicle.
