Event Report
Chugach
hosted the northernmost NDEW event, along with more than 250 in-person and
online events throughout 44 states, to celebrate the benefits of electric
vehicles (EVs). As part of NDEW, Chugach made several informational social
media posts about EVs. Chugach reached
out to local EV owners to participate in an EV car show for Chugach
members. Twelve local EV owners
participated in the car show, which allowed members to see different EV options
and provided an opportunity to ask questions and converse with EV owners. There were a variety of EVs on display,
including Tesla, Audi, Volvo, Chevy, and Volkswagen. An estimated 100 members visited the car
show.
EV owners
were appreciative that Chugach gave them an opportunity to help promote
EVs. One of the EV owners, who was not a
Chugach member, expressed how thankful he was that Chugach was hosting an EV
event and was disappointed that his utility has not been more involved in the
promotion of EVs. Another EV owner
indicated that they had taken the day off from work to participate in Chugach’s
event. Members were excited to see the different
EV options and were surprised that some EV prices were comparable with
combustion engine vehicles. Members also
had interest in EV charging stations and were excited about the level 3 chargers
that are being installed through the Railbelt.
The event
was enjoyable and successful due to the EV owners and members who participated,
and from the support and volunteers from Key Accounts and Sustainability, Regulatory
Affairs, and Corporate Communications.

Event Description
Get charged up for National Drive Electric Week (Sept. 25 - Oct.3), an effort to raise awareness about the benefits of electric vehicles (EVs). As part of Member Appreciation Day, join Chugach Electric Friday, Oct. 1, between 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at 5601 Electron Dr. to see EVs on display and to learn more about the EV experience. Owners can visit us on Oct.1 with your EV for a gift card for a complimentary car wash, while supplies last.
