Event Report
This was the first of 2 webinars that Hawaii EV and Drive Electric Week Hawaii (led by Blue Planet Foundation) hosted in celebration of Drive Electric Week. This session was focused on context-setting - providing our audience with the latest of EVs, sustainable transportation, EV adoption in Hawaii, Hawaii's EV charging infrastructure, and the status of the electrification of our state fleet.
We kicked this off with acknowledgment of the Drive Electric Week proclamations that we received from the Governor and all four mayors.
Our webinar agenda and presenters:
- Decarbonizing Transportation in Hawaii - Kathleen Rooney (Ulupono Initiative)
- Latest EV Industry Developments - Kianiwai Jones (Blue Planet Foundation)
- EV Charging Infrastructure - Michael Colón (Hawaiian Electric)
- State Fleet Electrification - Robin Shishido (Hawaii Department of Transportation
- State Policy Update - Rep. Nicole Lowen (Chair of the House Committee on Energy and Environmental Protection)
- County Policy Update - Councilwoman Heather Kimball (County of Hawaii County Council, District 1)
We concluded the event with a Q&A from our Zoom audience.

Thanks to our co-host, Kianiwai Jones of Blue Planet Foundation, our speakers, County Mayors, and Governor Ige for helping us kick off National Drive Electric Week. Special thanks to national sponsors for the continued spotlight on electric vehicles and clean transportation.
