Event Report
It was a wonderful time! We had 9 environmental groups who tabled and shared ways people could lower their carbon footprint, but the stars were the EVs brought by the DC and Richmond EV clubs, local owners and the E-bikes brought by local residents. People were very excited to learn more about EVs and were impressed with the large array of different models. Speakers spoke on owning an EV, efforts of the city schools to go green, and the importance of youth advocacy.Event Description
This will be the 4th annual Walk and Pedal event held by Fossil Free Fredericksburg (FFF). We have worked with the city government and city schools to move towards using EVs for their transportation and official businesses; they are now in the process of an energy audit to make ours an EV community!
Speakers will cover topics of progress the schools are making, involving youth in the climate crisis advocacy measures, legislative updates, and an open mike. Tablers will include Fossil Free Fredericksburg, the Sierra Club, Colonial Forge High School's environmental club, the Food Co-Op, and many others! They will be focusing on activities for kids and information on how to lower your carbon footprint.
Our key goal is to get people to bring their EVs and speak with participants about why they drive EVs; then be able to answer questions those participants may have. A bike decorating station will be available for those wanting to decorate their bikes before riding around the Heritage Trail and stopping at the Friends of the Rappahannock to hear about their latest initiatives.
