Event Report
Over 500 people enjoyed sunny skies and warm temperatures to visit the sixth Sechelt Electric Vehicle (EV) Festival held Sept. 25 in BC, Canada on the Sunshine Coast. Again, organized by the Sunshine Coast Electric Vehicle Association (SCEVA), we embrace our motto of "Leading the Charge!" with several firsts - including first time attendees - a Chevy Bolt EUV, a Polestar and a Porsche Taycan.
The featured vehicles were two EVs that have been driven across Canada - from St. John's, Newfoundland to Victoria, BC - a trip of over 7,000 km (>4,300 miles)! A 2017 Bolt EV owned by Sunshine Coast resident and SCEVA Executive Member, Buddy Boyd, took 11 days to cross Canada in 2017. Harvey Soicher drove the second, an Audi e-tron and with a co-driver, completed a similar trip in earlier in September in 4 days, 18 hours and 25 minutes! Event spokesperson John Henderson said that change in timing is a testament to improvements in vehicle models and charging technology as well as the increased charging infrastructure that has become available countrywide.
“Electric vehicles are mainstream now. B.C. has the highest EV adoption rate in Canada and the Sunshine Coast has the highest adoption rate in B.C.,” said Henderson.

Event Description
Continuing our long-running tradition of organizing the Sechelt Electric Vehicle Festival, owners and dealers will be showing their EVs - cars, e-bikes, Segways, scooters and more. Open to the public with all Public Health rules related to COVID-19 in effect.
