Event Report

Our third NDEW event in Martinsburg was successful despite effects from COVID on attendance. The Eastern WV Regional Airport was a great host yet again and everyone enjoyed having access to restrooms and vending machines nearby. We had attendees of all ages interested in EVs and taking rides with owners and attendees from Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Many attendees commented how grateful they were to have a local event in West Virginia to speak with owners about EVs and appreciated the NDEW giveaway bags, T-shirts, etc.

I'd like to add a special thanks to the Maryland MD Volt group that had several members that drove over and showed their EVs!

Event Description

Join us in the beautiful eastern panhandle of West Virginia for our third annual National Drive Electric Week event! Area EV owners will be showing many electric vehicles from various manufacturers. Regardless of the make or model, you can be assured of no or low fuel costs and an all electric grin! We will offer electric vehicle rides for those not yet initiated and answer questions from the public on what it's like to drive an EV, charge an EV, use solar with an EV, etc.

This year's event will be held at the Eastern WV Regional Airport. You can check out the EVs and watch the planes - everything from small Cessnas to large military C17s. You might even get lucky and see the plane that serves as AirForce 1 practicing! The airport will have restroom facilities available. The airport is centrally located to Hagerstown, MD and Winchester, VA and encourage our out-of-state neighbors to make the easy drive on I-81 to Martinsburg.

For Tesla owners, there is a Supercharger at the Sheetz station on Edwin Miller Blvd off of I-81. There are non-Tesla L2 chargers located at Martins Distributing on Race Street and other locations (check PlugShare).

NOTE FOR EV OWNERS: By attending this event, you agree that allowing the public into your car, test rides, or test drives are solely at your personal discretion and that you are completely responsible for any and all damages that may result. You also agree that test rides or drives must take place on public roads and not on airport property and that you will obey all traffic laws.
