Event Report

Mission Electric is an Empire Clean Cities campaign and online resource hub dedicated to promoting the widespread adoption of zero emission vehicles. Empire Clean Cities is an environmental 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to ensure clean air for future generations in New York City and the Hudson Valley. We are committed to providing citizens and stakeholders with access to reliable information about alternative fuels, advanced vehicle technologies, and green transportation practices.

On Thursday, October 10th, Mission Electric hosted a virtual ride and drive event as part of the tenth annual National Drive Electric Week. The event included:

  • A short presentation on EVs with Joy Gardner, Executive Director at Empire Clean Cities and Lidia Henderson, Program and Communications Manager at Empire Clean Cities;

  • A virtual test drive with a 2019 Nissan LEAF Plus with Nissan of Queens dealership in Ozone Park;

  • Video testimonials from EV drivers in New York, including a BMWi3, two Tesla Model 3’s, and a Honda Clarity plug-in hybrid electric vehicle; and

  • A presentation from Mark Simon, Director of Electric Vehicle Policy at New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT).

Our goal is to encourage New Yorkers to consider switching to a zero-emission electric vehicle and help reduce air pollution in New York. The event was made possible by Plug In America and Electrify America. You can find a recording of the webinar and other resources at empirecleancities.org/pastevents.
