Event Report

The Center for an Ecology-Based Economy's sixth annual Solar&EV Expo celebrating National Drive Electric Week was a great success! Virtual in format this year, it included webinars on EV 101, Solar 101, Community Solar, and 2030: A Vision for Electric Mobility in Western Maine. EV 101 was presented by Travis Ritchie, STEM teacher, former employee at an EV auto dealer and repair, and EV driver. Solar 101 was presented by Fred Garbo, solar installer and co-founder of Garbo-Kane Integrated Solar Builders, and Don McLean, solar homeowner and CEBE Energy Working Group chair. The Community Solar update was facilitated by Mike Dunn of the Energy Working Group, and included presentations by Nick Baudouin of Powermarket, Chris Mills of Nexamp, and Chris Jones of ReVision Energy. 2030: A Vision for Electric Mobility was facilitated by Scott Vlaun, CEBE's Executive Director, and included presentations by Barry Woods, Director of Electric Vehicle Innovation at ReVision Energy, and Fred Garbo, western Maine's first EV driver and "EVangelist." Recordings of all of these presentations can be found at https://www.ecologybasedeconomy.org/solar-electric-vehicle-expo. We also presented pre-recorded videos of local EV drivers "test driving" their own vehicles and describing the experience, a local dealership offering a test drive of one of their vehicles, two tours of local solar operations, two electric bike videos, and one on EV charging etiquette. These videos are all available here.

This event was possible due to the generous sponsorships of Paris Autobarn, Lee Auto Malls, Revision Energy, Garbo-Kane Integrated Solar Builders, Powermarket, Nexamp, Seacoast E-Bikes, and Plug In America.

Event Description

Due to the ongoing pandemic, our sixth annual Solar&EV Expo will be virtual this year, but still full of opportunities to learn about and celebrate electric mobility and solar power in western Maine. Webinars will cover the basics of solar and EVs, how to sign on to Community Solar projects, the eBike revolution, driving EVs in western Maine, EV charging etiquette, virtual test drives and more.

This event is sponsored by Electrify America, ReVision Energy, Paris Autobarn, and Lee Auto Malls.

Please RSVP using the button at the top of this page.

Watch our Facebook page and website for videos we'll release throughout the week featuring your friends and neighbors driving EVs and explaining their first-hand experiences. There will also be videos featuring E-Bikes, solar panels, and more!

Electric mobility powered by renewable energy is the future. It's here now in Maine's Western Foothills. Don't miss your chance to learn all about it!
