Event Report

Washington State still does not allow in-person events, so we conducted a 14-mile cruise through the neighborhoods of Seattle. We had 10 EVs, including a purple Archimoto and an orange Carman Gia conversion. The procession included a good variety of vehicles available locally, all with signs announcing the oil-free miles they have driven as well as promoting NDEW. We drew attention to our event using flashing lights and music. The starting and ending locations for the event had charging stations available for anyone who needed. The weather was beautiful!

Event Description

We may not be able to gather in person during this year of pandemic restrictions, but we still can promote electric driving - by staying in our cars!

The Seattle Electric Vehicle Association will host a socially distanced EV cruise through neighborhoods in Seattle, so that residents can get a good idea of the kinds of production vehicles available as well as get inspired to convert a favorite or classic car to electric propulsion. The parade will include signage for SEVA and NDEW and will wind through diverse neighborhoods to promote equity.

The cruise will begin and end at public locations where charging stations are available. In case of wet weather, which does occur in Seattle at this time of year, participants will be able to stay dry in their cars, and residents can watch the procession from the comfort of their homes. The route has been outlined to run through residential neighborhoods and mostly side streets with less traffic and fewer traffic lights - where cars are more likely to be visible to residents.

To promote safety and health, participants are required to maintain six feet of distance and wear masks when outside of their cars at the starting and ending locations.
