Event Report
On October 1 we Zoomed in and virtually showcased various models of the more than 40 plug-in vehicles available today in a fun, interactive way. It was a challenge to create a virtual EV Showcase this with COVID-19 restrictions, so we recorded much of it in advance with a very small number in attendance, and all masked.
This was not your typical Zoom meeting – ours was fun AND informative:
- Opening: A really cool music video with local musicians Timmie Metz and Tambo signing "You're the One That I Want" from Grease. The video contained many fun facts about EVs.
- EV 101 – Slide presentation about EV basics
- Driving electric is good for climate and your health – Slide presentation
- Video of Ribbon cutting of the EV Chargers at the new Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library featuring:
Anne Arundel County Library CEO Skip Auld
Maryland Secretary of the Environment Ben Grumbles
Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman
Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley
Baltimore Gas & Electric Utility of the Future Principal Sam duPont - Short interviews with EV drivers present at the ribbon cutting: Tesla Model S, Nissan LEAF, Jaguar i-Pace, Chevrolet Bolt, Ford Fusion E-nergi Plug-in Hybrid,
- Virtual test drives featuring
- Chevrolet Bolt
- Harley-Davidson LiveWire motorcycle
- Porsche Taycan
- Baltimore Gas & Electric slide presentation about how home charging affects the electric bill and what residential rebates are available for home charging equipment
- Drive with the Sun
- Two Videos about how to charge EVs from the sun with community solar (no panels) or from panels on the rooftop
- Q&A
- A hilarious virtual tour of EV charging stations in our area featuring our summer interns
