Event ReportThe City of Monterey Park hosted its second "National Drive Electric Week" event Sunday. Presented by the Greater Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce, the event drew attendees from the local area to locations as far as the South Bay and Orange County. Many of the attendees were eager to learn about the benefits and challenges of electric vehicle ownership. Others were hoping to experience the feel of different electric vehicles currently on the market before they made their final decision. Many brought families. Camino Real Chevrolet, the city's only new vehicle dealer, made their Bolt EV available for test drives. NissanUSA provided a Nissan Leaf for test drives as well. Both vehicles were rarely on the lot as a constant stream of people waited their turn to drive. Although Tesla Company did not participate, a number of privately owned vehicles showed up. Some where modified while others were just recently delivered. There was even a rare Roadster that was very popular. Some of the Tesla owners graciously offered their vehicles for test rides while others showed off their car's dance moves. Besides the cars, various vendor booths gave out information such as electrical vehicle rebates and charging system sharing startup (AmpedUp). "I want to thank our sponsors including Plug In America, Southern California Edison and all the volunteers - specially members of the Mark Keppel High School Key Club for their invaluable help in making this event possible." said Vincent Chang, organizer for the event.
The event is pending. Please visit the Attend page to find other National Drive Electric Week events.
