Event Description

LONGMONT, CO — TinkerMill, the Longmont Makerspace, is hosting the first National Drive Electric Week Event in the city of Longmont. The event will take place on September 20, 2014, Saturday, from 12 noon to 5:00 pm at TinkerMill’s main location — 1840 Delaware Pl., Longmont, CO.

This event is part of the annual National Drive Electric Week taking place in over 100 cities nationwide and an opportunity to promote the myriad benefits of plug-in vehicles in cities coast to coast. Just in the state of Colorado, six cities are organizing a Drive Electric Week event. In Longmont, the Drive Electric Week event will be a fantastic opportunity to bring together the many plug-in electric vehicle drivers in the area and educate the public and policymakers about new innovations and opportunities in this arena. This is also a great time to inform locals of  available charging stations within the city of Longmont, as well as in neighboring cities such as Boulder, Fort Collins, Loveland, etc.

Our event will consist of the latest electric vehicles available on the market, drive and ride, Q&A about electric vehicles, food, and other fun and exciting activities. Also, we are going to have electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, and gas-powered cars converted to electric, hybrids, and hydrogen fuel cell. Charging stations will be available too!

TinkerMill as a makerspace / creatorspace, believes in and encourages innovation among its members. Through hosting the National Drive Electric Week Event, together with VERDi Sustainability Consultants, the City of Longmont, and Longmont Area Economic Council,  TinkerMill would like to show its support for sustainable living, renewable energy and diversified energy resources. This event is a great fit for TinkerMill’s mission of being leaders in the community and powerful advocates for science, technology, engineering, art and math. The electric vehicle technology is growing fast, we can see that this is the future of transportation and we want to be one of the pioneer advocates in the EV technology in Colorado.

The National Drive Electric Week Event is FREE for everyone. Mark your calendar and bring your family and friends.
