National Drive Electric Week
Sep 21, 2019
|Day:||Saturday, September 21, 2019 NOTE: this event has already happened, find current-year events on the Attend page.|
This was an EV CONVOY from Lexington to Louisville covering 110 miles. A Convoy - not a parade - but a mutual travel together voyage using 15 electric vehicles of 7 different models. Each car had a blue Evolve KY car flag flying from the rear window and every driver wore a black Evolve KY hat. We left the Tesla Supercharger station in Lexington, drove past Midway, went to the Kentucky State Capital Building before stopping at Chick-fil-a in Frankfort for lunch and to charge at their EV charger, drove to Shelbyville and circled the town, went to Simpsonvile and circled Outlet Mall of the Bluegrass, next to Middletown to circle the Mall St. Matthews, then to Oxmoor Center Mall to circle their parking lot before going on to Sullivan University to join the Louisville DEW event taking place there.
There was a lot of smiles, waving, and horn honking. Many cars pulled over on the other side of the road as we passed like a funeral procession to pay their respects to "the Death of the ICE Vehicle". Our voyage was captured on Facebook with pictures and live video streaming posts as we traveled along. Our FB posts received 123 Likes and 6 Comments.
