Event Report

The City of Cape Canaveral was proud to have hosted its first-ever National Drive Electric Week event at the beautiful Manatee Sanctuary Park overlooking the Banana River Lagoon. The City is very supportive of electric vehicles and firmly believes they represent the future of transportation. To date, the City of Cape Canaveral has installed twelve Level-2 ClipperCreek charging ports across six charging stations at various City facilities and parks, the most of any municipality in Brevard County.

At the City's NDEW event, 200 residents and visitors came and saw first hand the technology and benefits of electric vehicles, as well as what the City is doing in terms of the electrification of its own vehicle fleet. A total of 48 test drives were given and over 30 vehicles were in attendance, with participants having driven over 600,000 all-electric miles. The event also saw a display from the Embry-Riddle EcoEagles, a group of engineering students who successfully converted a 2016 Chevy Camaro into a hybrid-electric vehicle for a US Department of Energy competition.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience and the City looks forward to hosting next year's National Drive Electric Week event!
