Event Report

The 2nd annual Lowell Drives Electric event was held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 At Heritage Farm ice cream along the Merrimack River in Lowell, Massachusetts.  Perfect weather was on hand as well as the Lowell Kinetic Sculpture Race, taking place right across the street.

Approximately 300 attendees joined 30 EV and Plug In vehicle owners along with clean energy vendors to educate visitors about clean energy and  EVs. In attendance were State Rep. Thomas Golden, Chair of the State Energy Committee, State Senator Edward Kennedy, and Lowell City Councilor Rodney Elliot. Five additional city council candidates addressed the audience and helped to cut the ribbon. Cornerstone Mitsubishi joined in with Tesla, Kia, Chevy, and Hyundai Owners In offering test drives of their electric vehicles.

It is estimated that 100 participants took test drives or demo rides throughout the afternoon. Cycle Loft also provided test drives of e-bikes and solar panels providers  were also in attendance. Kids enjoyed the special activities such as face painting and mini golf designed just for them.

A special thanks to National sponsors Plug In America, EAA, Nissan, and the Sierra Club. Local sponsor National Grid also made our event extra exciting by providing t-shirts, music by Marianne and Larry, and signs for the event.  Lastly, Heritage Farm Ice Cream  was a generous host providing  tables and cones. We hope to everyone at next year’s Lowell Drives Electric and in the meantime check out for more events by our new partner Juice Up Electric on Facebook and Instsgram.
