Event Report

The Boulder County Fairgrounds provided an excellent space for our first National Drive Electric Week Longmont.  We staged our event over 4 hours on a Sunday. This allowed folks to come and go throughout the day.

We had 63 EV owners register to bring their cars, 42 showed up the day of the event.  I don't have the exact number of rides given, but some were giving up to 10 rides.  We also had 4 dealers:  Chevy, Nissan, BMW and Green Eyed motors (used EV's).   One person brought his electric boat, it was fun to see it in our EV parade.  We had an old Porsche that was converted to EV.  We were contacted by someone to bring an electric tractor, but they were unable to come. The parade route was very short, around the fairground so we wouldn't need to go out on a busy 4 lane street.  A couple of electric motorcycles showed up late in the event.

We solicited vendors and had city and county sustainability offices, solar companies, EV charging companies and more.  We had 3 food trucks/ stands and free water was available from Eldorado water.

A band played for us between speeches.  Speeches were city, county, state (CDOT), legislature, and EV owner and also Joel from Plug In America.

Since this was our first EV event, we did a great deal of advertising.  A donor gave us specific money directed to print and radio.
Our volunteers were amazing.  They did checkin, managed the EV owner areas and traffic, and assisted in many ways.
