Event Report

The rain did not stop the electric vehicle parade through downtown Lowell or the spirit of the hundreds of people that came out to see electric cars at the Lowell Earth Day Festival at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center on May 5, 2019 from 12-4 pm. With limited parking space available, 15 owners and 2 dealers brought fully electric EVs or PHEV plugin cars to the event. Visitors had the opportunity to test drive the new Hyundai Kona as well as the Nissan Leaf. In addition, electric bikes were also available for test drives and were popular with visitors. Fan favorites included playing with the sounds of the Tesla Model X and driving the new Hyundai Kona. Lastly, Lowell Drives Electric received a visit from a Solectria EV car, one of the first American electric cars available for order in the US decades ago.
