Event Report

On Sept. 12, Duquesne Light, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, sponsored a NDEW event in downtown Pittsburgh’s Market Square. The event featured local dignitaries and dozens of EV supporters and vendors that are working alongside DLC to make vehicle electrification an important part of Pittsburgh’s energy future. Nearly 15 different vehicle models, including compact, full-size sedan and SUVs, were on display . Attendees had the opportunity to ride in and test drive EVs as well as take a ride on eBikes, eBoards and eScooters that were at the event. A highlight of the event was DLC’s announcement that it would be partnering with the Pittsburgh Parking Authority in the installation of eight new charging stations in downtown garages. In addition to reaching passersby, nearly 3.5 million total impressions were obtained via traditional and social media. Highlights include pickup in the Pittsburgh Business Times, the Trib Live, a Tweet from Pittsburgh's Mayor Peduto.

Event Description

*** UPDATE FOR EV DRIVERS***
We have had such a great response and have so many EVs registered for the event that unfortunately we have no more spaces! Please still plan to stop by and share your enthusiasm for driving electric in Pittsburgh!

Duquesne Light Company and the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, with support from Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities, are teaming up to celebrate National Drive Electric Week in downtown Pittsburgh on Wednesday, September 12! We invite you to join us at the Market Square Electric Lunch from 11am-2pm in downtown Pittsburgh.

The Market Square Electric Lunch aims to encourage electric vehicle (EV) adoption in the Pittsburgh region by heightening awareness of EV availability and benefits. The event will feature dozens of local supporters including car dealerships, government leaders, businesses, and non-profit organizations who will be offering EV information and product demonstration. In addition, the event will include a press conference to announce exciting new partnerships that are taking shape around EVs and charging infrastructure availability in our region. We are thrilled to host the event in the bustling Market Square, and expect to engage with 3,000+ passersby on what will undoubtedly be a beautiful fall day.

In its eighth year of increasing public awareness of electric vehicles, National Drive Electric Week is presented nationally by the Sierra Club, Plug In America, and the Electric Auto Association. Last year, with 275+ events in all 50 U.S. states and beyond, National Drive Electric Week was brought to over 120,000 people worldwide. Across the country, we are on track for 2018 to be the biggest and best year yet for National Drive Electric Week.

We hope you can be a part of the
Market Square Electric Lunch in downtown Pittsburgh!
