Event Report
This year we (the City of West Palm Beach Mayor's Office of Sustainability) partnered with the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society to host the Drive Electric Week Wrap Up Event. We had around 35 personal EV drivers attend the event as well as around 1500 people who visited the Zoo that day. Tesla, Karma Palm Beach, Braman BMW, Sierra Club, and EnviroSpark all had a presence at the event and were able to interact with the visitors. We also set up a hydration station (which was a big hit) and gave away reusable/collapsible water bottles so that everyone could stay hydrated.

Event Description
Join us at the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society for the National Drive Electric Event with the City of West Palm Beach, Mayor's Office of Sustainability! Learn all about electric vehicles (EVs) from our EV experts, find out ways to reduce your carbon footprint, and save wildlife.
The City of West Palm Beach has committed to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, the world's largest cooperative effort among mayors and city officials to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, track progress, and prepare for the impacts of climate change.
In 2016, the City of West Palm Beach updated our community-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory. Following that, Mayor Muoio established a long range (2050) net zero GHG reduction target for the city. Net zero emissions means that the quantity of greenhouse gases emitted is in balance with the quantity sequestered or offset. With transportation being one of our biggest GHG emitters, we encourage the use of electric vehicles.
Electric vehicles are fun to drive, are less expensive and
more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles, are better for the environment,
promote local jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Are you
considering going electric? Come talk to owners who have successfully done so.
EV
drivers will find preferred parking (~20 parking spots) on September 15th at the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society. This will serve as
a small meet-up spot and also give visitors a chance to chat with EV
drivers to learn more about incorporating an electric vehicle into their
daily lifestyle.
