Event Report

I think the event went very well even though we did have some whether issues. It would be better for events in the south to be later in the year because we had temperatures in the high eighties. We also had to shut down early because of a thunder shower. We did have the city mayor come and talk and present us with a city proclamation. Our venue at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, which is a historic site in the city, is a great place to attract visitors. We got permission from the city to close Station Street to hold the event. We could not offer rides because the street was closed which restricted vehicles leaving during the event. However, our vehicle owners were very busy showing visitors their electric cars and answering questions. Also, thanks for the educational flyers that we distributed to visitors. I feel our goal to educate the general public about electric transportation alternatives was very successful.

Event Description

Chattanooga Drive Electric will be celebrating National Drive Electric Week in the heart of Chattanooga next to the famed Chattanooga Choo Choo.  We will be closing the adjacent street (Station Street) for our event.  There will be electric vehicles, electric motor cycles and electric bicycles on display.  Event volunteers will be available to explain the features of the vehicles and to answer the questions of visitors.

There will also be several booths with displays designed to inform the general public of the advantages of driving electric and how transitioning to electric transportation will significantly help stop global warming by reducing carbon emissions.  We also will emphasize the production of electricity by solar and wind.  Chattanooga is a leader in Tennessee in promoting electric transportation.  We have all electric buses downtown, an electric car share program, a community solar share program and a free charging infrastructure.  Come join us in celebrating this family friendly event.
