Event Report
This event was part of Nevada County's largest classic car and hot rod show, which typically draws 600 cars to the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, California, an hour north of Sacramento in the Sierra foothills. Approximately 5000 people attended, and the Nevada County Climate Change Coalition (NCCCC) presented an indoor display of a total of 14 plug-in vehicles (+10 electric bikes in an adjacent display) along with a display of climate-related materials. We had enthusiastic crowds--and some climate deniers--who saw the display, talked to volunteers, engaged dealer representatives and participated in a ride-and-drive all weekend. Hundreds of people enthusiastically wanted more information on plug-in vehicles. A representative from the California Center for Sustainable Energy presented on Sunday. NCCCC has done this event for three years now, in an attempt to reach those who wouldn't normally be exposed to EVs, and we see it as a successful outreach to those who don't often experience such viewpoints.
