Event Report
We had a great event. It started at 10:00 AM with the Mayor of Abita Springs, Greg Lemons, cutting the ribbon on our first ever EV chargers in the town of Abita Springs; the town's new LED bulletin-board sign was also dedicated. Tesla donated the charging stations, so we have two Tesla chargers and one Level 2 charger. They are located in the town's main parking area for the historic area, the Tammany Trace Museum and 30-mile biking/hiking path and several local restaurants and the park, where attractions like festivals and music events are held monthly.
Our event continued in the adjacent park after the conclusion of the EV charging ceremony. We had thirteen EV vehicles show up for the event, and there were also many hybrids in the area. Six of the EVs were Teslas, including two Model X's. Other vehicles included a Hyundai Ioniq, a Chevy Volt, 2 Honda Claritys and an EV dune buggy and EV motorcycle/3-wheeler built by a local designer.
The Louisiana Tesla Owners and Dreamers Club participated and were happy to give rides in their Teslas. They were among the first cars to use the new EV chargers!

Event Description
Join your neighbors and Electric Vehicle enthusiasts at the Farmer's Market in Abita for our 2nd Annual Clean Energy Day: it's Electric! event. Part of the National Drive Electric Week, and featuring many different models of Electric Vehicles, this event is sure to inspire everyone who is interested in cars of the future. The Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X, and the Chevy Bolt are just some of the vehicles which may be on display. Talk to the owners, learn about driving an EV, and check out these amazing rides, all while enjoying the beautiful Abita Springs Trailhead park by the River. Splash Pad, Playground, and Farmer's Market treats for the kids, as well as our town's Museum and the Historic Pavilion will round out a nice day in the eclectic town of Abita. Please call for overnight accommodations or details about showcasing your EV.
