Four Nissan LEAF owners displayed their vehicles, answered questions, and gave test rides and drives at the Salmon River Park in Gustavus, Alaska on September 16. About 25 locals checked out cars powered by the same rain that failed to damp the enthusiasm of owners and lookers alike. Many others noted the event as they drove past on the community's main road. This northern-most Drive Electric Week event celebrated growing from one electric vehicle in 2016 to seven in 2017 for only 489 permanent residents, demonstrating that local hydropower, a very limited road system, and a maritime climate make EVs a natural fit for our community.

Event Description
Gustavus Celebrates Drive Electric Week at Salmon River Park
To celebrate International Drive Electric Week (September 9-17), Gustavus electric vehicle owners will show off their cars, answer questions, and give rides and test drives. Stop by to learn from the owners why Gustavus has gone from 1 to 8 electric vehicles in two years and why they love their rain-powered rides!Here's a map of the coordinates:
