Event Report

Not our first time around at Black & Veatch. One of the biggest engineering firms in the region, they've been a leader in promoting EVs and expanded EV charging for years. A special tip of the hat is due to Bill Roush and Peter Loftspring at B&V for their continuing and enthusiastic support of the cause. This year's event saw a steady stream of visitors and drivers from the start, driving and inspecting Tesla models X and S, the Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt and the BMWi3. Beyond current models, there were a few retro offerings as well, including EV versions of a VW Bug and an EV retrofit version of a Black late 1960s Karmann Ghia (which, sadly, was on static display only). Looking forward to 2018!

Event Description

Interested in Electric Vehicles? Get Your Questions Answered

On Tuesday, 12 September, members of the Mid-America Electric Auto Association will display their electric vehicles (EV) and answer questions in the south parking area of Black & Veatch's World Headquarters. The EVent, “Getting Answers to your EV Questions,” is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Professionals and the public have the opportunity to learn more about electric vehicle technology and the charging stations throughout Black & Veatch's parking lot. Vehicle displays and “Ride ‘n Drives” are planned from the several vendors.

The B&V Credit Union, Central Library and Black & Veatch's EV car-share program, through Enterprise Rent-A-Car, plan to have representatives at the EVent. In addition, an electric bike display is planned inside the Rodman Innovation Pavilion and Metropolitan Energy Center's Clean Cities coalition plans to bring consumer information about PEVs, fuel economy, idle reduction and other opportunities to learn about alternative fuel vehicles in the KC metro.

Black & Veatch joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s Workplace Charging Challenge to expand access to workplace electric vehicle charging stations across the United States. The company’s over 40 charging stations at its World Headquarters make Black & Veatch a leading provider of workplace charging.
