National Drive Electric Week
Auckland, New Zealand
Sep 11, 2016
|Day:||Sunday, September 11, 2016 NOTE: this event has already happened, find current-year events on the Attend page.|
|Time:||9am to 1pm|
|Location:||Hobsonville Point Farmers Market
Auckland, New Zealand 0657
The weather was glorious and there were many people who stopped by at the cars as they attended the Farmers Market to buy produce. We had leaflets, stickers and a large flag as marketing collateral, as well as badges and Drive Electric t- shirts as branding.
The volunteers were all EV owners and so could speak knowledgeably about all aspects of #Leadingthecharge and EV driving. We had a static display of a Tesla Model S, a BMW i3, a Nissan Leaf and a Mitsubishi PHEV Outlander within the market so drives were not offered due to safety concerns.
The volunteers were part of the BetterNZ Trust who exist to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles. The leaflets explained the cost of owning an EV and the benefits of a non polluting vehicle with no CO2 emissions. The stickers were for people to put on their ICE cars, and proclaimed 'My next car will be CLEVERER'! .All in all we had a very successful day and will be repeating the experience!

All attendees and volunteers are required to wear face masks whenever they are within six feet of another person at all National Drive Electric Week 2022 events. Please see this information about how to improve how your mask protects you. For more information, see our in-person event safety requirements.
Come to this vibrant farmer's market to see these electric cars on show - a Tesla Model S, a BMW i3, an i-Miev and a Nissan Leaf - and ask the owners, all members of the Better NZ Trust, all the questions you want! The market is located by the Hobsonville Ferry Terminal at the end of Boundary Road.
This event is organised by the Better NZ Trust, who are working together with the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) to promote International Drive electric Week in New Zealand. EECA is promoting electric vehicles in New Zealand as part of the Government's electric vehicles programme; EVs take advantage of New Zealand's renewable electricity and create 80% fewer CO2 emissions than a petrol or diesel car.
