Event Report

We got permission to use the parking lot of an extremely busy mile long shopping district. We setup adjacent to the Tesla Superchargers that are located there. We had about 21 plug-in and hybrid vehicles show up. Including the local power company brought out their plug-in bucket trucks and they were a big hit. Along with a brand new Tesla Model X that stole a lot of the attention. We also had a locally designed 3 wheel roadster called the Defiant and the owner/designer on hand to show it off. We had random groupings of the public show up through out the day to look over the EV's and to get test drives. Local dealers from Nissan and BMW were offering test drives as well as owners of their EV's giving out test drives. I believe we can do a better job of promoting this event next year in print and radio media to drive a bigger public turn out. That being said I believe everyone had a great time!

Event Description

Everyone is welcome to come on out and meet and socialize with the EV community of Knoxville.

Help us beat last year's turn out of 22 EVs by signing up to bring your EV if you already own one, come on out for a few hours to show it off and talk to the public about driving electric!

This event will be located just behind the O'Charley's in Turkey Creek in West Knoxville, and will be near the Tesla Superchargers located there. This event will be the ONLY OPEN CALL for any PEV in the Knoxville region for celebrating NATIONAL DRIVE ELECTRIC WEEK! If you have an EV, *PLEASE* sign up and join us at this event!

If you would like to know more about driving electric then come talk to actual EV owners who can answer any and all your questions from people who actually drive electric cars daily!  Members of the Knoxville Electric Vehicle Association (KEVA) and the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition (ETCleanFuels) will be on-hand to discuss EVs that are on the market and that are coming to market, and what kind of plug-in equipment exists around the region.

More notes on the planning for the event:
  • The event will be from 3-7 pm, on Friday 9/16/16. We understand folks have different schedule, feel free to arrive at anytime, but know that we want to plan on taking a group photo of everyone that attends and their PHEVs at 6:30pm that night!
  • While there are not any Level 2 or other DCFC chargers in this specific part of Turkey Creek, about 2 blocks west at the Turkey Creek Calhoun's there are two Level 2 chargers.  Additionally, there is a DCFC'er and one Level 2 at the Cracker Barrel that is just at the interstate exit/entrance at the west end of Turkey Creek as well (Campbell Station Rd exit). There is also a new NRG EVGO dual DCFC at the Exxon on the Walker Springs exit which is a couple exits north of our Turkey Creek event location.
  • For those that would like, you can stay afterwards and join members of KEVA and ETCleanFuels for a group dinner!
  • Water and Snacks will be provided.

Come check out the latest and greatest innovations in electric driving!

We will try to get the plug-in hybrid truck from KUB to show up again this year!

See the Tesla Super Chargers at Turkey Creek, this makes Knoxville's Turkey Creek an awesome destination charging stop for any vacationing Tesla drivers!

Stay for the group photo at 6:30, here is our group photo from last year NDEW 2015.
