TUCSON PLUGS IN 2013 is the southern Arizona element of NATIONAL PLUG IN
DAY (NPID) 2013, the 3rd annual electric vehicle (EV) awareness
celebration sponsored by Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association.
TUCSON PLUGS IN 2013 is sponsored locally by TEVA2, the Tucson Electric Vehicle Association, an Electric Auto Association (EAA) chapter, whose origins in the promotion of EVs in southern Arizona dates back to the 1980s.
In brief, TUCSON PLUGS IN 2013 is an opportunity for the general public - free of charge - to come out and see the latest in EV technology. Both private vehicle owners and local auto dealerships will have plug-in vehicles on display. Additionally there will be exhibits showing a variety of sustainable and environmentally-responsible energy technologies.
TUCSON PLUGS IN 2013 is being hosted at the new Bookman's Sports Exchange store, 3330 East Speedway Boulevard, on Sunday, September 29, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM.
The Sports Exchange store, like all Bookman’s locations, features electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE) for the recharging of EVs. Unique to the new Sports Exchange location, however, is Tucson’s first Level 3 EVSE, which allows CHAdeMO compatible (and, soon, SAE-CCS compatible) EVs to completely recharge in about half an hour. The unit, installed by Scottsdale-based GoE3, is complimented with a 50 kiloWatt photovoltaic (PV) solar array, installed by Tucson-based Technicians For Sustainability, which powers the Level 3 EVSE and also provide covered parking for patrons.
