NOTE: NO vehicles actually showed up although 4 were listed as having registered??! We would definitely like to receive feedback in order to improve communication between scheduled attendees and event planner(s), please.NEVERTHELESS, as Chairperson of the SMUMC Creation Care Ministry I declare our 4th Annual Fall Festival to have been a success!
The other vendors (see original vendor list) and activities made it possible to begin conversations re: the environment. There was a speaker/representation by Rob Taber of Sarah Taber (democratic candidate) for NC Agriculture Commissioner who supports local farmers and climate related issues! The NC Clean Energy Technology Center provided complimentary information DESPITE the fact that there weren't any EV's present.
Our ministry goal is to spread the message of earth advocacy by Sharing the Light of Christ! Since 2021 we had provided Electric Vehicle demonstrations during the festival.
We will continue to make improvements in the planning process. A big PLUS was the fact that our event was scheduled during NDEW based on a suggestion made by one of the participants having attended last as part of EV vendor tabling. The banner received in 2024 was used throughout the week for publicity. Other "swag" and information received as a registrant was distributed during the festival in addition to having made hard copies available to church members and guests!

Event Description
The Saint Matthews UMC Fall Festival is a fun approach to spreading the message of earth care and environmental advocacy. The event is hosted by the church Creation Care Ministry and Samaritan Garden (community garden) project in coordination with the Western NC Conference (UNC) Creation Care Team Ministry and the United Methodist Creation Justice Movement. Sharing the Light of Christ!
