Event Report

"Charged Up! Little Rock EV Showcase" was another success this year, with over 15 EV owners showing their vehicles, 1 Chevrolet dealership showing 3 vehicles, and even an E-bike shop getting in on the fun! Metroplan, the Central Arkansas MPO, tabled at the event to share information about the $100 million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) award to the Tri-Region Coalition in Arkansas for its “Energy and Environment Innovation for the Natural State” proposal. Central Arkansas’ $49.25 million allocation will fund projects to sequester and reduce emissions with projects such as LED streetlights and EV charging infrastructure. The Little Rock Sustainability Office, who hosted the event, tabled with information given by the NDEW organization as well as posters showing architectural renderings of the city-owned gas station that will use allocated EECBG funds to install Level 3 chargers for public use. The Arkansas Clean Cities Coalition director was also at the event to answer questions about how Arkansas is using NEVI funds and building connectivity throughout the state for EV charging.

Most popular EVs shown at this event were the Cyber Truck, the Chevy Silverado, the Rivian, and the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6. The event was held at the city-owned Rebsamen Golf Course, which was perfect - the Sustainability Office was able to purchase boxed lunches for all volunteers from the golf course grill, restrooms were readily available, there was plenty of parking and lots were separated so we could house EVs in one lot and guests could park in another lot. Grassy medians between the lots were perfect for setting up tents and tabling information and the E-Bike shop utilized a shady spot to set up pedal-assist bikes, a tent, and information. A zero-traffic beautiful shady lane next to the golf course parking lots allowed guests to test drive the dealership vehicles - as well as the E-Bikes. EV owners even jumped on e-bikes to take a spin down the road!

The event was from 4-7 pm on Friday, October 4. We engaged with over 50 EV-interested attendees. The golf course location was so ideal for this event in so many ways, we are planning to host NDEW 2025 there, as well.
