Event Report

The Electric Vehicle Show was held on October 5th, 2024 at the Congregational Church on 59 Main St in East Hampton. The East Hampton Clean Energy Task Force partnered with East Haddam to bring this educational event to local residents.

Participation:

  • 7 Dealers (w/ automobiles)

  • 6 Exhibitors (w/services, bicycles, boat motors, dirt bikes)

  • 13 Owners (showcasing their own EV or hybrid vehicle)

  • 50 Attendees (other than the above and the team working the event)

Attendance was based on raffle tickets collected and the dealers and local businesses donated the raffle gifts.

By far, the highlight of the event was the stories told by owners about why they made the switch to an electric or hybrid mode of transportation, how they deal with charging, both at home and on the road, how alternative energy can work for bikes and boats and the general pros and cons of moving away from gas powered engines.

The Task Force collected feedback on what worked for this event and what didn’t, from all participants, so we are better prepared to initiate the next event.

We want to thank the Council for their support, the East Hampton High School students who helped run the event on the day, our East Haddam partners and the task Force members and their families, who made this event happen!

Event Description

The East Hampton Clean Energy Task Force is holding the Sixth Annual “East Hampton Connecticut Electric Car Show 2024” on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Congregational Church of East Hampton parking lot at 59 Main St. East Hampton, CT 06424 from 12 noon to 3 pm (Rain Date is Saturday October 12th). The Task Force, with the cooperation of the Congregational Church, is bringing the event into the center of East Hampton for the first time.

The neighboring town of East Haddam Sustainability Team is partnering with the East Hampton Clean Energy Task Force to expand promotion and participation in the Event.

We want to encourage potential car buyers to be thinking of EV's or hybrids for their next vehicle.  Also, we want to have many brands and types of electric, hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles on display.

No one is a better ambassador for clean energy transportation than EV owners.  There is anxiety out there surrounding range, charging infrastructure, and even EV drivability.  And many are sowing fear about weaning ourselves off of fossil  fuels.  The best advocates for clean Energy transportation are those who have made the shift to electric and can answer questions honestly.

Registration is quick, easy and free.

We’ll have music and food, too.  So, come on out, show off your vehicle or just do some green window-shopping with us and have some good “clean” fun!
