Event Report
This was the inaugural EV Showcase and Clean Air Day celebration at the California State University Channel Islands campus. The mid day event drew students, faculty and campus visitors where they were able to examine a variety of vehicles, interact with their owners and ask any and all questions. There were also education booths from the EV Advocates of Ventura County/ Sierra Club, The Ventura County Air Pollution Control District, CAL State Channel Islands , SEC Mobile Education Unit, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 952, Communities in Charge, the Ventura County Chapter of the Climate Lobby and The Community Environmental Council.Notable vehicles included the Ocean View School District's 78 passenger Bluebird E-Bus.
Event Description
In celebration of Clean Air Day and National Drive Electric Week, CSU Channel Islands will host a community fair highlighting Electric Vehicles and options to learn how energy conservation incorporating, efficient appliances, weatherization, solar panels and battery storage are possible utilizing tax credits and rebates to offset prices and save money.
The EV Advocates of Ventura County will attend with a showcase of EV's along with their owners who can discuss their experience owning, driving, charging and traveling with electric vehicles. Getting firsthand information from those who have been driving electric for many years and seeing the variety of vehicle options with out sales pitches is very valuable. We anticipate having sedans, SUV's and even trucks in the showcase.
