Event Report

The SLO EV Ride & Drive return to Madonna Inn set a few records. With 10 cars  and several e-bikes from 6 dealerships (a record in itself) to choose from, test drive numbers were the highest ever, with many attendees driving multiple vehicles. Dealers estimate that almost 100 people experienced the thrill of driving and riding electric! Dealers represented include:
  • Chevrolet/Mercedes SLO
  • Lucid Motors
  • Kia Paso Robles
  • Hyundai SLO
  • Sunset Honda
  • Wally's Bicycle Works
The showcase was also popular with a dozen EVs shown by their owners. The Model X turned heads when it hooked up to a 20' camping trailer, showing off its towing capacity as it drove through the parking lot. SLO County Air Pollution District teamed up with Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition to staff a booth that promoted Clean Air Day (October 2) and provided information on programs to subsidize charger installations at commercial properties.

At noon, several speakers from the SLO Climate Coalition welcomed attendees, highlighted its climate work in the region, and called attention to the affordability of used EVs. The keynote speaker, SLO Mayor Erica Stewart, shared her personal experience with driving electric and described the many actions that the City is doing to electrify its own fleet and to provide charging stations for its employees and the general public. They are locating several of its planned charging stations near multifamily dwellings where renters may not otherwise have a place to charge.

** San Luis Obispo's annual Ride & Drive returns to Madonna Inn **



Join us in the parking lot near the Tesla Superchargers on Saturday, September 28th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM for a total EV experience! Have you driven a Lucid Air yet? You'll be able to test drive it and many other makes and models, including the new Equinox and Blazer EVs from Chevrolet, the EV6 and EV9 from Kia, and more. Already drive an EV? Come show it off and share your drive electric experience with other attendees in our private vehicle showcase. And for those who prefer two-wheeled EVs, you'll be able to test ride a few e-bikes, too! And if you're ready to electrify your ride, we'll give you all the information you need to know about selecting the right EV for you and how to tap into all the financial incentives available to make it happen. You'll be surprised at how affordable driving electric can be! Come hungry and empty-handed... there will be coffee and treats to eat and prizes to take home!
