Event Report

"EVs are Coming! Are we Ready" was attended by a small group of folks curious about electric vehicles and how California's EV mandate is going to work out. Barry rands, Green Transportation Program Leader for the SLO Climate Coalition gave the presentation based on information and resources provided by CalMatters for Learning and the State Library system. About half the audience already drive an EV and were able to speak from experience about some of the issues that were raised during the informal discussion at the conclusion of the presentation.

Event Description

Governor Newsom has mandated that all new vehicles sold after 2035 must be electric.
Will California be ready? Will you be ready?

This informative presentation and discussion will highlight both the promise of an all electric transportation system and the many roadblocks that need to be cleared for it to happen. Topics will include general information about EVs and their history, common misunderstandings about EVs, overview of the EV mandate, and a discussion of the policy and infrastructure issues that will need to be addressed in the coming decade.
