Event Report

Our club, the Fox Valley Electric Auto Assn. (FVEAA), produces 2 shows because we cover such a large area. We are the Chicagoland chapter of the EAA.

Mine is the Northern Event.
We had great weather, but not a great turn out; only about 16 vehicles. However, we did have an e-bike company bring a handful of battery-assist bicycles for ride-n-drives. These were pretty cool and a big hit.

The other amazing thing at this show was the presentation of this year’s EAGL Awards. It stands for Earth, Air, and Green Leadership and is part of the FVEAA’s effort to further the understanding, use, and enjoyment of EVs in the Chicagoland area.

I invented the EAGL Awards 3 years ago to build connections between our EV club and other orgs, businesses, & individuals that advocate for EVs.

The EAGL Awards recognize the efforts or results of various clubs, organizations, businesses, and individuals for their dedication to electric vehicles in one or more of the following areas - regional electrification, legislation, education, financial, or EV publicity.

Last year’s winners: Samantha Bingham – IACT/CACC; IL State Sen. Sean Casten; and FVEAA members Pres. Jeff Miller and Treas. Ted Lowe.

IACT – IL Alliance for Clean Transportation; CACC – Chgo. Area Clean Cities

This year’s winners: Jay Womack - Organizer of the Geneva, IL Earth Day Celebration, and Jodi Trendler -the Naperville Environmental and Sustainability Task Force (NEST) & the Resiliency Institute of Naperville.

**And a BIG thank you to Samantha from IACT/CACC for their $500 sponsorship.

Thanks to all that attended.

Rich Hirschberg – FVEAA

The FVEAA has been around since 1975 (around the time of the first oil embargo) and was incorporated in the State of Illinois in 1979. We became a chapter of the EAA (Electric Auto Association) in 2004. We promote efficient and clean electric vehicle use and educate the public on these issues. We help our members to become EV drivers.
