Event Report

The 2023 National Drive Electric Vehicle event was held at the Fort Worth Tanger Outlets on October 1st. The DFW NDEW event had numerous activities for attendees, including games, shopping at the nearby Tanger Outlets, ride-and-drives, electric vehicle displays, and more. The goal for the event was to educate the community on the benefits of owning electric vehicles and with the help of exhibitors and numerous EV owners, the event was a success!  Over 350 attendees registered online, and they reported a whopping 4.5 million electric miles driven, which is 1.4 million electric miles more than last year. Over 100 of online registrants checked-in at the NCTCOG registration booth, and the event had many visitors from Tanger Outlets and the nearby Buc-ees as well. Overall, Tanger Outlets saw a 31% increase in traffic due to the DFW NDEW event.

This year’s event displayed a total of 33 different EV models--ranging from luxury cars such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 Plus, sports cars like the Mustang Mach-E,  budget friendly vehicles like the Chevrolet Bolt, passenger trucks including the Ford F-150 Lightning, and two-wheeled and off-road options, including the Harley-Davidson Livewire, electric bikes, and electric lawn equipment. Ride-and-drives were provided by Pedego e-bikes and Autobahn Fort Worth. Pedego provided nearly 20 ride-and-drives, and Autobahn Fort Worth provided over 50 ride-and-drives!

Talented students of Texas A&M Solar Car Racing Team and Harmony School Forth Worth presented their solar powered vehicles, which showed a potential future for EVs. Attendees were able to learn about sustainability efforts being made by the City of Fort Worth, City of Dallas, and Tanager Outlets. EV charging manufacturers, including Boost EV, Volta, Wallbox, Good Faith Energy, and EV Tech, were present to educate attendees on how they could charge an electric vehicle.

Thank you to all the EV owners, volunteers, exhibitors, and staff who attended the event to spend the day educating the community and making the 2023 NDEW a success.
